LIF Filter for the AN/PVS-14

Made in the USA. Mil Spec LIF Filter(Light Interference Filter) for the AN/PVS-14 and PVS-14 night vision monoculars. The Light Interference Filter protects night vision devices from laser damage coming from IR aiming & pointing lasers. A light transmitting item consisting of a transparent, flat glass body having two plane-parallel surfaces, either with only non-absorbing dielectric coatings or absorbing and non-absorbing coatings of a thickness nearly equivalent to the wavelength of the transmitted light. Interference begins at the thin bordering surfaces of the coatings, the penetrating light waves being superimposed on the reflected light waves. The item can be installed in the following various optical instruments, to serve as an eye protecting device.
